The Station Refreshment Rooms at Tenterden Station
The building you see today at Tenterden Town Station was formerly the Maidstone & District Motor Services Bus Station, opening on 15th August 1922 and generally accepted to have been the first purpose-built bus station in the country - if not the world! It remained in use there until 1976, when it was donated to the K&ESR and subsequently re-erected by volunteers at Tenterden.
Today its Art Deco interior is a great place to enjoy a sandwich or sticky cake, light lunch, local bottle of ale or perhaps an ice cream before you board your train.....
