Junior Engineering Experiences 

Suitable for CHILDREN ageD 6 TO 12 YEARS. children must be accompanied by one adult.

Join us for this fun-filled experience, sure to enthral all young enthusiasts keen to learn more about the workings of the Railway. Chris Vine, author of the Peters Railway books, will lead the sessions, sharing his passion for all things engineering!

 

    • Journey along the line behind a steam locomotive! Climb onto the footplate and learn for yourself how it works.
    • Please note on 13/14 July the afternoon session will be diesel hauled. 
    • Enjoy a 'behind the scenes' tour of our locomotive workshop at Rolvenden, where our engines are restored and maintained.
    • Take part in some activities to learn more about the inspections carried out to ensure our carriages are safe to run.
    • Take home a free copy of a Peter's Railway book personally signed by the Author! One for every budding young engineer.
    • Enjoy a FREE return journey to Bodiam on the day or another day of your choice.

The price for one child and one accompanying adult includes all of the above activities and a voucher for free return train journey to Bodiam 

Please note that adding one ticket to your basket includes the experience for one adult and one child.

Additional travel tickets may also be purchased for other family members to travel the line between Tenterden and Bodiam; please note however that additional tickets don't include access to the behind the scenes tours.

Due to the nature of this activity, a certain level of physical ability is required. Please come suitably dressed for visiting working areas of a heritage railway, including sensible shoes.  Hi-visibility vests will be provided for participants.

There are two sessions per day - choose from the morning session that runs between 09:50 until 13.15 or join the afternoon session at 13.45 until 17.30
