Wildlife and Country Fair At Tenterden and Bodiam stations

14th and 15th September 2024

Steam trains will be running all over the weekend, so come along and enjoy the fun!

Entry to the event is included in train travel or a £1 platform ticket on the day

Traction engines will be on display at Tenterden station so come and have a look!

At Tenterden station we are delighted to welcome you to the Wildlife and Country Fair with a wide selection of different stall holders and displays

Cecis corner will be selling her lovely jewellery made of Tagua nuts from the Ecuador rain forest.

Kent distillery Anno will be selling a wide selection of gins, rums and liqueurs.

Mini mouthfuls will be selling some wonderful mouth-watering fudges to tempt the taste buds.

DLS Candles will be selling home-made Soy scented candles.

Tenterden Men's sheds will be offering a selection of hand crafted wooden items including hedgehog houses (Sunday only)

Cartridge Crafts offer handmade gifts for shooting fanatics and countryside lovers.

 

Sussex Essentials, is a homemade brand created in the heart of East Sussex.

 

Science kits and educational toys will be offering a range of toys and kits including solar and animation models. 

3 D Print Studio will be offering an amazing range of 3d printed animals, dinosaurs, fidget toys, vases and lithographs (Saturday 14th only) 

The Pyrofox will be offering pyography and a selection of mixed media wood art

Tiny Beegle owner, Danielle Williamson, a local designer/maker and freelance illustrator, will be selling a range of nature and wildlife inspired items (Saturday only)

Visit Rachel's Homemade Treats stall for handmade dog treats including for dogs with various allergies and selection of fun items for your furry friends

In the Wildlife marquee you will find

Tenterden Wildlife Group offering a variety of children's activities
A display of beautiful local wildlife images taken by the Tenterden Camera Club
The Bee Conservation Trust where you can learn everything about Bees
Trevor Bouldon who will be chatting about pond dipping, why not give it a go yourself!
Local charity, Thorne Hedgehog rescue who will be happy to tell you more about their work

Learn more about the important  work of the K&ESR Forestry and Conservation Team. Children will also have the opportunity to assemble some bird boxes for themselves under expert guidance!

At Bodiam Station

Les Langley Chainsaw artist – will be making beautiful wildlife sculptures throughout the weekend

Julian Apps talented walking stick maker will be amazing us with demonstrations of how these are made.

E-roots creations who make hand forged metal items will be giving regular live forge demonstrations 

On Saturday, Great Dixter team members will be whittling, making hurdles and chatting to customers about greenwood working and the tools used

Richard Collison will be selling a selection of items made from hop pockets

Bee Kind club will be selling a selection of bee related merchandise and offering FREE family activities including rock painting 

Meet Buttercup and Poppy, two rescue hens who will be happy to be pose for photos over the weekend courtesy of Chicken Rescue UK

Enjoy spinning and weaving demonstrations and the opportunity to learn how to make friendship bracelets using a trollen

A tractor will be on display by the hop garden, Rother Valley Ltd will be on hand letting you know everything about the Robertsbridge extension

We will still be Celebrating our Hopping story at Bodiam Station

September is  traditionally when the hopping season would have started. 

Come along to Bodiam station and take a trip down memory lane, learning all about hop picking in the local area. 

Have you ever been up close to the magic ingredient that helps to make your beer? Visit our hop garden where you will be able to touch and smell the hops.

Our replica hoppers hut will be open for visitors to see how hop pickers would have lived. Learn more about the history of hop picking and the local Bodiam area with talks throughout the day with Bodiam volunteers Vic and Colin.

Our staff will be dressing for the occasion and you can enjoy a display of hopping equipment.

Pick up your on-board hopping activity sheets to enjoy while you travel through the Rother Valley. 

Bodiam will have the bar open and a selection of hot and cold food will be available.

Two local external caterers will be joining us over the weekend, Staplecross based pub, The Cross Inn on the Saturday offering classic burger and chips and Bodiam based company Madd Rotisserie on Sunday.

Music will be supplied by Martellos on Saturday and the Sideboard Men on Sunday

 'anderida border' morris side will be dancing on Saturday and 'roses are red' AND WOLFSHEAD VIXEN MORRIS on sunday

     

We have no public parking at Bodiam station.  Please travel from Tenterden where there is a large free car park (or Northiam on the Saturday) to Bodiam.
