Job Overview
Are you looking for a unique part-time Chef role in the Tenterden area? We are seeking a self-motivated, experienced, and passionate Chef to cook a small but perfectly formed breakfast menu on-board our heritage railway Kitchen Carriage, "Diana".
You will prepare meals as the train ambles through the beautiful Kent & Sussex countryside, taking great pride in delivering a memorable experience for our passengers.
Role Details
- Location: Tenterden Town Station, Kent.
- Hours: 07:30 to 13:00.
- Schedule: Most Saturday mornings in September and October 2026.
- Specific Dates: Every Saturday except 12th and 19th September.
- Contract Type: Part-Time, Fixed-Term Contract.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Stock Management: Load all necessary fresh stocks and ingredients onto the train before departure.
- Food Preparation: Cook and present breakfast options for up to 40 covers on the 10:20 departure.
- Teamwork: Work closely with waiting staff and assist with routine clearing and washing up.
- Kitchen Hygiene: Clean the kitchen thoroughly at the end of service, ensuring it is ready for the afternoon crew.
- Safety Adherence: Follow all railway safety protocols and food hygiene regulations on-board.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Certification: Appropriate qualification in Food Safety and Hygiene.
- Training: Recent, up-to-date food allergy and intolerance training.
- Experience: Proven experience cooking in a commercial or professional kitchen environment.
- Attributes: Self-motivated, reliable, and a supportive team player.
