At the station

Station Refreshment Rooms, Tenterden Town

Originally erected in 1922, this building was formerly the "Maidstone & District Motor Services" waiting room at Palace Avenue, Maidstone and is reputed to have been Britain's first purpose built bus station. Today, its Art Deco interior is a pleasant place to enjoy a freshly prepared meal, local ale or some light refreshments. Our menu changes daily and our special offers ensure there’s always something great to enjoy!

The Station Refreshment Rooms are accessible to wheelchair users and open between 10am and 4.30pm every day that train services operate. Additional seating is available outside adjacent to the children’s play area, from where you may watch the trains arrive & depart. If you’re not travelling on our trains, the cost of a standard platform ticket is refunded when purchasing refreshments. Please note that dogs (other than assistance dogs) are not permitted in the Station Refreshement Rooms.

Couple the excitement of a ride on the train with some delicious refreshments. In addition to our popular Wealden Pullman dining train, we are pleased to offer a range of everyday catering options served on-board your train. There are normally refreshments available on the 10:40am; 1:15pm & 3:35pm from Tenterden and 11:40am, 2:15pm & 4:35pm from Bodiam. Pre-booking is required and the Catering Steward will ensure that your seats are reserved and table prepared for you!

Let us prepare a sumptuous hamper for you to collect from the Station Refreshment Rooms at Tenterden Station. Typical content per person includes: a freshly cut sandwich, pork or gala pie, Pringles, Scotch Egg, Salad, Yoghurt, Cheese & Biscuits, Fresh Fruit and a soft drink. Napkins, cutlery & condiments are also provided. Chilled alcoholic beverages may be included at additional cost. When you’ve finished, the hamper may be returned to staff at any station.

Board at Tenterden from 6:00pm ready for a 6:30pm departure. Your chosen meal will be served on departure and there's an opportunity to enjoy a glass of wine, locally brewed beer or cup of tea or coffee from the at-seat trolley service as you travel towards Bodiam (additional charge applies). At Bodiam Station the historic Cavell Van & Gift Shop will be open before the train returns to Tenterden for a 9.15pm arrival.

Real Ale & Cider Trains

With some of the finest micro-brewery real ales, normally including one from each of our neighbours the Old Dairy Brewery and the Rother Valley Brewing Company, our Real Ale Trains are an evening to remember! The train of 1950's era corridor carriages (hauled by an historic locomotive and including wheelchair user access and seating in Petros) will be ready for boarding at Tenterden town Station from 6.30pm. Departing at 7.00pm, your choice of meal is served as the train travels to Bodiam. Book in advance and there's a souvenir branded pint glass to take home, with the selection of Real Ales from the onboard bar at just £3.00 per pint!

On arrival at Bodiam Station, a live band provides entertainment for the duration of the station stop. Arrival back at Tenterden is scheduled for 9.45pm.
