 On Friday 26 October ride the Fright Night Express if you dare!

 Visit the railway from 5:00pm for a Fright Night workshop including pumpkin carving (which you can take home) and face painting.  Families are encouraged to come in fancy dress, the scarier the better!

Spooky music will be accompanied by the beats of the Drumskullz and an amazing live fire breather will add to the atmosphere before everyone boards the Fright Night Express in time for a 7:00pm departure.

 Children will receive a Munchbox during the journey.

Hot snacks will be available to purchase from the licensed restaurant at Tenterden Town Station, to eat in or take on the train.

Upon arrival at Northiam Station enjoy a firework display before the return journey to Tenterden, which will see the train arrive back at the station for approximately 8:45pm.

Promotion

Our "Kids Go Free" promotion is exclusive to bookings made online before midnight on the day before travel and is applicable for trains running from Friday 30th March until Sunday 15th April.  Children under 15 can travel for free with (one per fare-paying adult) and these free child tickets must be booked when completing your booking online.  Children will receive an educational activity booklet to complete during their train journey.

Back by popular demand we will have our “Pop Up Pocket Money Shop” at Tenterden where good quality toys can be purchased, prices ranging from £1-£3 to end your eggciting day! 

Free admission to the award-winning Colonel Stephens Museum at Tenterden is included with tickets purchased. 

On-train catering and wheelchair access is available on 10:40, 13:15 and 15:35 departures.  You can pre-order lunch options to take advantage of our onboard refreshments.

Bodiam Castle is a short walk from Bodiam Station.  Presenting a valid train ticket also entitles passengers to discounted entry to Bodiam Castle

The Station Refreshment Rooms at Tenterden will be offering plenty of tasty options including hot and cold lunches and afternoon tea (prebooking required).

Free parking at Tenterden and Northiam stations.

Festival Information

A wide range of real ales, ciders and perry available at Tenterden Town Station and on some train departures from 10.45 am.

Food available on Friday evening and Saturday all day into the evening.

Friday 15th June - £2, Free entry is available to card carrying CAMRA and K&ESR members (no train service in operation).

Saturday 16th June - The railway is running a Gold Service, however if you wish to attend the festival only, you will need to purchase a platform ticket at £3.

Gold Service: Two steam hauled trains and one 'Class14' diesel hauled service

A = Includes on-train catering and access for wheelchair users. Whilst we will offer every assistance, we regret that we are currently unable to accommodate wheelchair users on trains marked B and C.

Due to simultaneous departures of trains crossing at Northiam, it is not possible for an immediate return to Bodiam or Tenterden on disembarking at Northiam. The waiting time for a return train would be 45 minutes. Customers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly, particularly at the end of the day.

Getting to the Festival by Public Transport

Important Changes to Stagecoach Bus Times from Sunday 3rd June

Those travelling by bus to and from the festival from either Ashford or Hastings using the 2 or 2A bus should check the new timetables.

Route 2 will be changed to run every 2 hours during the day between Hastings, Tenterden and Ashford.

Service buses operate to Tenterden from: Ashford (2 or 2A), Hastings (2), Maidstone (12), Tunbridge Wells (297).

Helping at the Festival

Our beer festival is organised and run by unpaid volunteers and we are always looking for more volunteers, old and new to join us. So if you would like to help out, whether for a few hours one evening or throughout the beer festival, you will be made most welcome. Don't worry, you do not need any experience. The only condition for being a volunteer is that you are a CAMRA member.
Remember, without Volunteers there would be no Beer Festival

Steam into Summer

 Children aged 3-15 can travel for just £1* per accompanying adult when tickets are booked on-line in advance. With a packed programme of events there is something for everyone to enjoy!

Activities for our passengers this summer

Included in your TravelCard is unlimited travel on the day of your visit so that you have the ability to "hop on and hop off" trains to suit your interests. 

We have lined up a week day schedule of entertainment for all paying passengers, including:

Our "Kids for a Quid" promotion is exclusive to bookings made online before midnight on the day before travel and is applicable for trains running from Saturday 28th July until Friday 31st August.  £1 Child tickets are valid only when purchased with at least one Adult TravelCard per child.  Children between 3 and 15 can travel for £1 (under 3's travel free) and tickets must be booked online in advance. This offer is NOT available form the Ticket Office on the day.

 

TravelCards are valid for unlimited travel on the day of your visit (Monday to Sunday). Our family ticket is great value at just £38 for two adults and up to 3 children (aged between 3 and 15 years). If you are a lone adult travelling with children, best value is an Adult TravelCard plus £1 Child Travelcard for £19. Children under 3 travel free with paying adults.

Santa Specials 2018

Meet Santa at the Kent & East Sussex Railway

Take a magical steam train journey to meet Santa this Christmas with our popular Santa Special trains. At Tenterden Station the beautiful Victorian carousel provides unlimited free rides for the young and young at heart alike.

On board the festively decorated steam trains, you'll meet Santa during the 1 hour 10 minute return journey. Look out for his elf helpers with their sacks full of lovely presents - every child receives an age appropriate gift from Santa himself whilst teenagers (13 to 15) receive a box of festive chocolates. Everyone receives complimentary refreshments too - a mince pie & choice of soft or alcoholic drink for adults and a soft drink & chocolate bar for children. Babies under 18 months of age at the time of travel are free of charge (providing they are not occupying a seat) and there's a little free gift for them too!
