Crimbo Limbo

30th & 31st December 2018

1st January 2019

Fed up with mince pies and repeats on the TV? Need a change of scenery or somewhere to take the relatives? Take a steamy excursion into the New Year with a trip through the glorious Weald by steam train!

Enjoy your comfortable seats aboard our steam trains in heated historic carriages and sip your hot drink or alcoholic beverage in your seats from our on-board trolley service.*

After your train leaves the picturesque town of Tenterden you will travel across the marshes and Wealden Valley to the stations at Rolvenden, Wittersham Road, Northiam and Bodiam.

Before arriving at Bodiam, take a peek out the window to see the magnificent medieval castle which was built to defend the highest navigable point of the Rother.
Your train also passes through fields which were once covered with the typical hop gardens that brought so much traffic to our railway.

Bodiam Castle is a 10-minute walk away across the valley and passengers deciding to visit the Castle can take advantage of reduced admission when showing their Kent & East Sussex Railway ticket used for travel on the same day as making a visit to the Castle.

We are running a special fare offer for this three day period with Adult day TravelCards for just £12 and Child day Travelcards (for passengers aged 3-15) for just £6 each.  We also offer a great value Family Day TravelCard for 2 Adults and 2 Children for just £30!

Children under 3 travel free! #

Bus Rally

Sunday 18th August 2019

YJG 807

Here at the Kent & East Sussex Railway we are welcoming what was once the deadly enemy of the railways - the bus.

On Sunday 18th August Tenterden Town Station will be the setting for a rally featuring more than a dozen vintage vehicles, offering free rides to a number of local destinations.

A hundred years ago, the coming of the bus posed a significant threat to the railway, as competition for passengers intensified.  The car ultimately took its toll on both. Here at the railway we carried our last passengers in 1954 before re-opening in preservation in 1974.

More details of vehicles and services will be shown here as they become available

Two steam trains will be operating services throughout the day  - click here for timetable of train service

TravelCard tickets provide unlimited all day travel on our steam trains.

Helping at the Festival

Our beer festival is organised and run by unpaid volunteers and we are always looking for more volunteers, old and new to join us. So if you would like to help out, whether for a few hours one evening or throughout the beer festival, you will be made most welcome. Don't worry, you do not need any experience. The only condition for being a volunteer is that you are a CAMRA member.
Remember, without Volunteers there would be no Beer Festival
If you can help, please visit www.camra-afrm.org.uk or email details of your availability to [email protected]
